Meditate with Judy
We have a monthly Mediation group that gathers every first Wednesday of the month. With so many of us staying home these days we feel it’s imperative that we find a way to still offer as many of our amenities as possible. This offering in particular seems to be of paramount importance to ensure access to even as we remain closed for the time being.
We’ve chosen to take this time off to assess, renovate and improve upon the structure that is Anastasia Fitness. Around the world, we see people doing the same work on themselves. Covid-19 and it’s ripple effects can mean quite a big serving of unexpected stress and anxiety for people all over the world. During this time, many of us have also found that life has slowed down and we have a lot more time. This has many turning inward- acknowledging that with so little control of the external our best option is to impact the internal.
Judy Angyalfy practices and is certified in Mindfulness Based Stress reduction (qualified via UMASS). She has taught 8 week courses at Anastasia Fitness over the past few years and more recently started the monthly mediation group. MBSR focuses on stress, stress reduction, stress reactivity, perception, formal and informal meditation, MBSR yoga, and of course, mindfulness, which Judy describes as “awareness that arises from paying attention in the present moment in a non-judgmental way.”
Past participants have learned that though they cannot always change the circumstances in which they find themselves, they can choose how to respond to them. In MBSR this process is described as going from reacting to responding, with the latter involving a clearer perception of the circumstances through being in touch with the thoughts, sensations and emotions that are present.
