Fasting is likely the single, most powerful metabolic intervention in existence, and something we often suggest to people looking to access deep healing...

Because there can be no doubt we evolved to go periodic stretches without food, and that our DNA still expects this today in order to heal and be healthy.

Fasting is amazing in the same way exercise, cold and heat exposure are amazing… they are all hormetic stressors.

Specific benefits of fasting include autophagy... apoptosis... fat burning... mitochondrial biogenesis... metabolic flexibility... disease prevention and remediation to name a few… 

And what’s also amazing about fasting is that it’s accessible to everyone... it's time and money saving... and it's the default way of life in the animal kingdom.

Our early ancestors knew fasting as just a part of life… because when we failed the hunt, we had to go the rest of the day - if not days - without consuming calories... 

This might have meant fasts of 12 hours… 24 hours… sometimes up to 5 days, but the point is, we are not evolved to eat 3+ square meals every single day with no break in between.

Our early ancestors would surely have given any food remaining from previous hunts to those who needed it most… nursing and pregnant women… young children… the sick and the elderly...
