What you are leaving out of your workout

The OG of shoe companies Nike is marking 50 years as a brand. Chief Designer John Hoke, who has been employed at Nike over 30 years, is quoted as saying “Nike wasn’t an outfitter of equipment for athletes, but a platform for constant personal progression which happened to coincide with an era when personal progression became intertwined with physical activity on an everyday level.” It’s interesting that a change of perception can alter a culture. We started to view physical movement as intentional, as an opportunity to enhance performance versus an exercise that is valued by reps or time in an elevated heart rate. Are you at the gym to train or to exercise? Do you have a plan or just want to move? Either approach is all good, but if your mindset is towards performance, meet with a coach. Assessments by a personal trainer evaluate strength, flexibility and motor control. Begin your journey with the Movement Diagnostic presentation with head coach Rich Wilson. Meet us at Stone Climbing this Saturday June 25 at 3-5pm. $49 covers registration and climbing pass. See our events page to sign up.
