Da Bear Crawl

It's unpopular, but crawling is a great way to rebuild coordination and mobility in the general population.

It trains both sides of the brain, requires integrating shoulders with hips, core strength, mobility, and hand, wrist, and foot strength.

A little practice goes a long way. In ThriveFit, we periodically incorporate the bear crawl. The movement progresses throughout the phase. Variations include a hold, an alternating reach, a forward/backward crawl, or a lateral crawl.

And don’t discount the transition down to the floor and back up from the floor. Make it challenging! Resist using your hands, coming to half kneeling and then stand. Or rock back into a squat and rise to standing. Getting off the floor is a skill adult lose unnecessarily.
